kitkatfrontLiterally just finished sculpting this kitty last night. She’s titled “Kitkat” and much like her namesake, who can often be seen in exactly this pose, she is resting in a cute and very compact form (a.k.a. catloaf).

Now available for orders, I’m sending her off to get cast in resin very soon! Reserve your copy in the Store, or check out more photos of her in the Gallery.

“Nightmare” Coming Soon

nightmareA random discovery a few days ago while I was cleaning up: my old wax models from when I was doing jewelry several years ago!

Among them: “Nightmare.”

Since I’m interested in working with various animal rescues, I’ve decided to look into casting this tiny equine as a fundraiser for horse adoptions. We’ll see what results.

Michele Light’s “La Brea”

La BreaThis is something I’ve been working on since January, with permission from Michele. She’s a talented artist who does some pretty cute and funny pinup stuff. I thought her recent illustration of a sabertooth/smilodon catgirl, named “La Brea” (and appropriately wearing a shirt with “Extinct” emblazoned across her chest), would work nicely in 3D form. The original art that inspired this can be viewed here: La Brea

Stay tuned for more news on this one. Looking into having this possibly reproduced in color, if there’s enough interest. :)

Painted Dancer x2!

Cat Dancer in BronzeWhew! A really big stroke of luck here, just in time to accompany the blue-haired panther girl, here’s a faux-bronze-patina’d Cat Dancer done by the very talented folks at Resins by Randy (the same folks, I might add, who did the top-notch casting job on both my current resins).

It’s really amazing. If you don’t look at the bottom of the base, it’s a bit hard to tell this isn’t actually bronze. Yes, underneath this all, it’s the same type of white resin as the unpainted figures! It’s nicely glossy and has sort of a soft old-metal look. I don’t know how these people do it. Certainly it’s not an effect I’m going to try to experiment with, any time soon!

Will be available for bid in the Anthrocon art show, but if it doesn’t sell there, it might not leave my house again… :)

Painted Dancer

Cat Dancer - TropicalHere’s a special OOAK completed Cat Dancer I whipped up for an art show entry. The flower in her ear was sculpted separately and added to the resin, plus she also has moss glued to the rocky base.

Her color scheme was inspired by an illustration done by one of my longtime favorite artists, Chris Goodwin. You can see it here: http://www.furaffinity.net/view/2126144/

As you can see, Chris’s illustration had no hair, so I chose to make the Cat Dancer’s hair blue to retain the background’s color elements.

I wish I’d had more time to work on this one…
